Jane Rusconi discovered the sport of modern pentathlon when she signed up for a beginner’s epee class at Dynamo Fencing Club shortly after moving to the Vancouver area. Up to that point, her life was focused on training horses and riders as well as writing screenplays for feature films and television. All of these endeavours – horses, coaching and writing – seemed to make good use of her university studies at Yale in psychology and philosophy. Soon enough, she found herself taking up swimming, running, fencing and shooting so that she could compete in modern pentathlon at the masters level.
Over the last several years, she has coached Canadian pentathletes at the Youth Olympic Games, World Cup competitions, NORCECA Championships (senior, junior and youth), Pan American Championships, World Championships (senior and junior) and World Biathle-Triathle Championships.
