Call for Nominations for Female Athlete Representative

Pentathlon Canada is seeking applications from individuals interested in filling the position of Female Athlete Representative.

Athlete Representatives are elected annually for a two (2) year term and are elected ONLY by the Individual Members who are registered with the Corporation as athletes.

A call for nominations will occur prior to the Corporation’s National competition overseen by the Nominations Committee and the slate of candidates will be presented to the athletes at the National competition.

Voting will occur at the National Championships via ballot and following over a 1-week period via digital survey ballot.

Female Athlete Representative

The Athlete Representative sits on the Pentathlon Canada Board as the representative for member athletes. Duties and responsibilities are not fixed but instead vary according to the needs of the association and in response to any issues or developments taking place within the sport. The Athlete Representative serves as a liaison to the athletes and takes on roles as defined in organization bylaws or as needed to fulfill board requirements and address overall organizational goals.

Eligibility

Interested candidates should be:

  • Be eighteen (18) years of age or older;
  • Be a resident of Canada as defined in the Income Tax Act;
  • Have the power under law to contract;
  • Have not been declared incapable by a court in Canada or in another country; and
  • Not have the status of bankrupt;
  • Participated as an athlete (past or present) in the sport of Modern Pentathlon.

Candidates should be self-motivated and professional. Candidates should ideally also have experience in one or more of the following areas: governance; events; marketing/communications; strategic planning; fundraising; human resources management; not-for-profit organization management.

Candidates with previous Board experience are preferred, however individuals who meet some or all of the previous criteria are encouraged to apply.

Expectations

Expectations of the successful candidate are:

  • Serve the full term in which they have been elected.
  • Minimum of 6 hours a month in Board duties.
  • Attendance at 10 to 12 (approx.) Board conference calls/meetings during the year.
